Prescription safety glasses are often necessary for people who work in laboratories like me. I have been wearing prescription glasses for most of my adult life. However, when I started doing laboratory work, checking slides under the microscope and handling test tubes full of chemicals; I knew I had to get myself a pair of prescription safety glasses that will give me clear vision while protecting my eyes from the hazards of my work. Fortunately, I had many types of prescription glasses to choose from.
Industrial Prescription Safety Glasses
Workers who need the glasses for welding work or for close-up work, assembling mechanical parts may need to work with goggles that are fitted with prescription lenses. The drawbacks to these glasses is that they are large, bulky, and quite unattractive, with the frame font and the bridge melding into one big piece that sits on top of the face. The temples often curve around the skull for better protection. Despite the lack of aesthetic touches, these types of glasses offer the largest degree of protection since they cover a large part of the face.
Designer Prescription Safety Glasses
Designer glasses come in various colours, are attractive, stylish, and have frames that are designed to accentuate the face and eyes like fashionable, non prescription glasses, while providing the right corrective lenses in a protective frame. These glasses are often more expensive compared to regular eyeglasses and are suited for lighter work. I would personally go for designer glasses if not for the hefty price. However, one can find prescription safety glasses online for huge discounts or offline during store sales.
Regular Prescription Safety Glasses
Regular prescription safety glasses are the cheapest of the bunch and come in a range of styles from the ordinary pair that looks like simple corrective glasses to pairs that look like a cross between industrial goggles and prescription glasses, with narrower frames but wider temples for a better grip on the head and protection around the eyes. Cheap prescription safety glasses also come in various colours and look attractive, but they do not carry the hefty price tag of designer pairs.
Prescription safety glasses offer added protection in the workplace that ordinary prescription glasses cannot provide. They come in various types and designs to suit any worker, from those who are involved in mechanical and industrial work to those who need safety glasses for the office. For people who work in assembly lines, laboratories and other jobs that require close-up work, prescription safety glasses may be the only thing protecting their eyes while providing them with accurate vision at the same time.
